Need ideas for Valentine's day? If the way to someone's heart is through their stomach, these delicious, moist, fudgy cookies are sure to do the trick!


2 1/4 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 stick butter, softened
2 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. red food color
1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling


In a medium bowl, whisk flour, cocoa and baking powder. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix butter and cream cheese until blended. Add brown and granulated sugars and cream until light and fluffy, about 2 - 3 minutes.

Add eggs, vanilla and food color until fully incorporated.

Gently fold in half of the flour/cocoa mixture into the egg/sugar mixture until combined then add the second half until combined. Refrigerate for 4 hours.

Preheat oven to 350°

Form 1 1/2 tbsp. of dough into a ball, roll in powdered sugar and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for another 15 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy.

Variations: To make more decadent add 1 cup white chocolate chips fold into prepared batter. You can also roll dough balls in colored, sanding sugar or sprinkles instead of powdered sugar.
